Physical activity is important for a healthy lifestyle, and no matter your current fitness level, you can increase your physical activity to lead a healthier life. While you may think that increasing your fitness level will require a gym membership, physical activity can be achieved in many ways throughout your normal day. Here are a few tips you can start to employ to easily increase your daily activity.
- Choose the stairs over the elevator. Walking up two flights to reach your destination will help quickly add an activity to your day. If you need to go up several floors, try walking up two flights and then catching the elevator for the rest of the way up.
- Park at the back of the parking lot. This is another instant chance for some physical activity, increasing your steps to the building and back out again.
- Keep your house clean. Squatting and scrubbing on a regular basis adds in some physical activity with a chore that you have to perform anyway.
- Grow a garden. The yard work will give you a workout, and as an added bonus, you will have healthy greens to eat as well.
- Use a pedometer. By keeping track of how many steps you regularly take, you can create a goal to increase how many steps you are taking daily.
- Use the time after dinner for a healthy family activity, such as a walk or bike ride. You will get to enjoy time with your family doing something other than sitting in front of the TV.
These are just a few tips to increase your activity level. If you would like to lead a healthier lifestyle, consider a consultation with Dr. G’s Weight Loss & Wellness program to learn how to lose weight and keep it off. Call 1-800-DRG-8242 to learn more.
