3 Good Reasons To Give Up Diet Soda Today

When it was introduced in the early 1950s, diet soda was hailed as a huge step forward in the battle of the bulge. The fact that a person could save the 140-plus calories found in the average sugary soft drink seemed too good to be true. And according to most modern experts, it was! A number of new studies and reports have found that diet sodas are probably no better for you that regular sodas. Here’s why.

They confuse the body

Artificial sweeteners like saccharin, sucralose, and aspartame are chemical cocktails that human beings simply do not process like ordinary sugar. Instead of satisfying our need for sweets, these substitutes dull our senses to real sugar, since they have more intense flavors. It is no surprise then that people who eat them often feel unsatisfied and confused when they consume real sugar. As a result, they often eat more of it than they should to make up for the sweetness discrepancy, which often results in rapid weight gain.

They won’t help you lose weight

If you are drinking diet soda in place of regular soda, you may not be doing your waistline a disservice. But if you are imbibing these stand-ins because you think they’re actually good for you or that they might help you lose weight, you are sorely mistaken. Diet soda will not help you shed pounds.  How do we know? Researchers have repeatedly found that people who drink diet soft drinks have larger waistlines than non-drinkers.

It’s not good for you

What more need we say? Even if they don’t contain calories, diet sodas are chemical solutions that have absolutely no nutritional value.  So, why drink them?
