Five Reasons People Don’t Drop Pounds on Popular Diet Programs
Losing weight and keeping it off is one of the most difficult tasks we all face. Plans, schemes, and systems abound, but few of them actually work. More often than not, the problem is an inflexible program that treats suggestions as gospel, no matter how ridiculous they might seem. Here are five of the most common canards.
1. You can eat as much as you want, as long as they’re the right types of food. Wrong! All foods contain calories, so overindulging in anything will cause you to gain weight.
2. You must cut out one major meal a day. Utterly ridiculous! The human body needs energy at regular intervals. Skipping breakfast, lunch, or dinner will only make your hungrier and more likely to snack.
3. You can lose weight on a walk. Not likely! To get a good sweat going you must get your heart pumping, which means picking up the pace.
4. You must diet all the time. False! The human body was simply not designed to eat the same foods 24/7/365.
5. You only need cardio. As important as movement is, you must also pump iron to build muscle mass, since muscle burns more calories than fat.
