Flex Spending

Flex Spending

GREAT NEWS!

Dr. G’s Now Accepts Flexible Spending also known as FSA or HAS.
A flexible spending arrangement is a special account you put money into that you use to pay for certain out-of-pocket health care costs. You don’t pay taxes on this money. This means you’ll save an amount equal to the taxes you would have paid on the money you set aside.

Now losing weight makes even more sense.

If you have a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA) through your employer, your monthly Dr. G’s Weight Loss program fees (not including food) may be covered. Because of the tax advantages of using a health expense account, you can save money and lose weight.

Don’t have an FSA or HSA right now?

Now is the time to start planning for next year. First, check with your provider to see if they offer an FSA or HSA. If so, you can enroll during the Open Enrollment period (typically during November and December) for the next calendar year. Keep in mind that not all providers will reimburse for weight loss programs, so check before you enroll. Here are some FAQs that may answer some questions you may have.

Are Dr. G’s Weightloss program fees reimbursed by my insurance company?

It depends. Some insurance companies may reimburse for weight loss programs. Beginning January 2014, some insurance plans will be required to reimburse for weight loss programs that offer counseling (the Dr. G’s Weightloss In-Center and At Home programs include weight loss counseling). Check with your plan administrator for details. Your doctor must first complete and sign the Letter of Medical Necessity. Once completed, submit the letter with your program receipt to your insurance provider following their normal process for reimbursement.

How do I know if my Dr. G’s Weightloss program qualifies for reimbursement under my health insurance plan?

You should check with your plan to see if weight loss counseling or programs are eligible for reimbursement. If so (or even if it is not clear), ask your doctor to complete the Letter of Medical Necessity. Once completed, submit the letter with your program receipt to your insurance provider following their normal process for reimbursement.

Is the Dr. G’s Weightloss program reimbursed by my Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA)?

Some plans reimburse for weight loss programs. Check your plan and if so (or if it is unclear) ask your doctor to complete the Letter of Medical Necessity. Once completed, submit the letter with your program receipt to your insurance provider following their normal process for reimbursement.

Will Dr. G’s Weightloss submit my paperwork for me?

No. Dr. G’s Weightloss will not submit your paperwork and will not know that you have requested reimbursement under any plan unless you choose to share that information.

Is the Dr. G’s Weightloss food reimbursed under insurance plans, FSAs or HSAs?

It depends. Some programs will reimburse for special diet food based on a medical condition. Again, check your plans and if so, or if you are not sure, ask your doctor to complete the Letter of Medical Necessity. Once completed, submit the letter with your program receipt to your insurance provider following their normal process for reimbursement.
